Our Vision …
Is to engender in our students a love of Judaism and a desire to become committed participants in the Jewish community. We seek to achieve this by providing them with a positive experience of Judaism, Hebrew, Israel, spirituality and community.
We meet Sunday mornings at the synagogue from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (term time) for those between Reception age and Year 6.
The atmosphere at Religion School is always relaxed and we encourage parental and family participation, offering the opportunity of attending workshops with our rabbinic team, as well as occasionally working in class with the students.
We use a variety of teaching methods, including text study and discussion, music, dance and arts and craft.
We welcome family participation and meet regularly for Breakfast and parents have the opportunity of supporting our PTA who organise social and fund raising events on behalf of our Religion School.
Our pupils have the opportunity to take part in our ‘Shofar Club’, Israeli Dancing, visiting the Jewish Museum (Camden) and going on Jewish East End or relevant ‘Walks’ with an education guide.
Our Rabbis visit and conduct workshops with pupils as well as Sha’arei Tsedek’s Sopher who explains his role and demonstrates to pupils how Hebrew Letters are written in Torah.
Sha’arei Tsedek’s Musical Director, Louise Katin joins us regularly to teach all pupils songs for the Chagim and Shabbat.
Pupils are welcome to join us when they are rising 5, Reception Class (Kittah Aleph) and attend ‘Lower School’ until Year 6 (Kittah Vav)
On Graduating from Lower School (Yr 6) they will join the B’nei Mitzvah Group in Yr 7 (Upper School) in preparation for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah Programme.
