As the Days of Awe draw near, we enter a sacred time of reflection, renewal, and responsibility — to ourselves, to each other, and to the wider world.
This year, our Days of Awe Appeal offers two meaningful ways to make a difference:
* By enriching the spiritual life of Sha’arei Tsedek
* And by supporting lifesaving efforts in Israel through Magen David Adom UK
Renewing Our Machzorim — A Lasting Gift to Sha’arei Tsedek
A Lasting Gift to Sha’arei Tsedek
We are updating our Days of Awe prayer books (machzorim) to ensure our services remain accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for all who join us.
Our current machzorim have served the community well, but it is time for renewal. We are fundraising to purchase a new set of beautifully updated books, published by the Movement for Reform Judaism in 2024. These new editions offer:
* Clear, easy-to-follow translations
* Inclusive and welcoming liturgy
* Thoughtful commentary to guide and inspire worship during the holiest days of the year
There are no plans for a further update to the Progressive machzor, meaning these volumes will serve our congregation for many years to come.
The new books will be for communal use in the synagogue. At a later stage, individuals will have the opportunity to purchase a personal set if they wish.
Sponsor a Machzor
A donation of £45 will sponsor a machzor, which can be dedicated in honour or memory of someone special. Each sponsored book will feature a personalised bookplate — creating a lasting presence in our sanctuary and a meaningful gift for future generations.

Supporting Magen David Adom UK — A Lifesaving Cause
Alongside our synagogue appeal, we are proud to support Magen David Adom UK (MDA UK) — Israel’s national emergency medical and disaster response service.
In response to the October 2023 attacks and the June 2025 Israel-Iran conflict, MDA’s teams have worked tirelessly to save lives under the most challenging conditions.
Your donation can help equip and train frontline paramedics:
£36 — emergency supplies for a paramedic
£100 — first-aid training materials
£250 — support advanced training
£500 — fund a full month of paramedic training
£1,000+ — help provide equipment for ambulances and intensive care units
